I have been a Houston federal courthouse lurker for a long time now. It is time to put that lurking to good use. Or at least try.

I am officially entering the blogosphere. The point of this blog is to inform the bar and the public about interesting cases or issues that are happening in the Southern District of Texas. Federal courts have recently faced pressure about making its day-to-day activities more accessible to the public. This blog will strive to provide a look behind the curtain of this magical, important, and somewhat intimidating place.

As for me, I am criminal defense attorney in the Southern District of Texas that has been practicing for over ten years. I’ve appeared before 20 different federal district judges in contested matters in cases across the country. For the last five years, my practice has shifted from state court to federal court. Currently, my case load consists of 80% federal criminal cases. I’ve been a member of the CJA Panel for five years and I am passionate about defending people against the United States government.

I will try to post a new blog post every other week. But this will depend on my current schedule and breaking news. The blog posts will talk about current cases, trials, lawyers, judges, and general practice tips. I hope that this blog will help people handle their cases in federal court, educate clients on what to expect, and bring the public closer to understanding how cases work in the federal system.

We are adjourned until next week.
